Dr. Axel Boës is a Partner at KDB.legal Koch Boës. He has extensive experience in complex litigation and arbitration proceedings, particularly in international transport and maritime law, export control law (sanctions) and regularly advises and represents domestic and foreign insurance companies, shipping companies and shipowners in disputes before state courts and in arbitration proceedings.

A particular focus of his practice lies in representing clients in Russia-related disputes and advising Russian-speaking clients. He has acted as arbitrator under the rules of the DIS, the GMAA, LMAA, MAK, UNUM, RAC, the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and the Riga District Court and has represented parties in arbitration proceedings under the rules of the GMAA, MAK, LMAA, the ICC, GAFTA, UNCITRAL, ad hoc and the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Boës regularly publishes on issues of arbitration law, recognition and enforcement of foreign court and arbitral decisions and on sanction’s law. He is also frequently invited as a speaker on these topics.
Dr. Boës is Co-Chairman of the German Russian Lawyers’ Association, , and a member of the GMAA and the DVIS.
